The story of the Texoma Trading Card Expo began long before the event was born — all the way back in 1977, when a young collector purchased his very first baseball card: a 1948 Bowman Red Schoendienst rookie.
That card came from Jim’s Cards & Collectibles, owned by Jim Hewitt, a patient shop owner who became a mentor and a steady guiding influence. For a kid full of energy, collecting cards wasn’t just a hobby — it was a way to dream, to belong, and to connect with something bigger.
That early passion for collecting eventually led to playing sports, then Arena Football professionally, and later owning the Alabama Lightning football team, an experience rooted in building community and giving others a place to be part of something special.
Years later, after closing a long-running car audio business, a new vision was born — to do something meaningful in the hobby. That led to the creation of Goza’s Cards, not just as a store, but as a way to mentor young collectors, support families in the hobby, and bring back that feeling of connection and excitement that started it all.
The Texoma Trading Card Expo was founded with one core belief:
Don’t do ten shows a year.
Do one great show that people never forget.
This expo isn’t just tables and tickets — it’s an experience built with intentionality, passion, and respect for the hobby and the people in it.
This event is for:
We’re not here to water things down.
We’re here to do it right — with heart, with excellence, and with the same excitement that started back in a small card shop in 1977.
This isn’t just an event.
It’s a legacy in the making.
